ACES is pleased to announce that Dr. Spencer G. Niles has been chosen to serve as the next editor of the Counselor Education & Supervision (CE&S) Journal.  Niles will utilize the coming year to work with current editor Dr. James Korcuska in the transition and begin his role July 1, 2021.

Niles served as Editor for The Career Development Quarterly and the Journal of Counseling & Development and currently serves on numerous journal editorial boards. He has published over 140 articles and over 150 presentations at national and international conferences. Among his authored or co-authored books is the best-selling textbook in career counseling and development internationally, Career Development Interventions, published by Pearson, as well as a book on counseling at the global level, Counseling Around the world: An International Handbook.

Niles has served as dean of the William & Mary School of Education since 2013.  Prior to moving to William & Mary, he was distinguished professor and department head for Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education at the Pennsylvania State University. He also served as director of the Center for the Study of Career Development and Public Policy at Penn State. Before joining the faculty at Penn State, he was a professor at the University of Virginia for 13 years, including serving as assistant dean for the Curry School of Education.

James Korcuska has served in the CE&S editor role since 2015.  He is a professor in the Counselor Education and Supervision Program at North Dakota State University. Under Korcuska, the CE&S Journal has increased their editorial board to 30 members which has greatly assisted with manuscript workflow. A fellowship program was initiated in 2017 and a balance between quantitative and qualitative manuscripts has been achieved. There has been a significant increase in submissions under Korcuska’s tenure and an associate editor position was added in 2016.
