The Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) continues to be disheartened by the violence being perpetrated against people of color. We are saddened by the recent murders of Asian Americans in and around Atlanta, as well as the ongoing violent attacks being perpetrated against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in various parts of the country. We denounce any type of racism, xenophobia, and discrimination against any community of color.

We call upon our ACES members to continue to create safe spaces where people who experience these abhorrent actions by others can come to express themselves and feel valued as important members of our country. We also ask our members to work within their own communities to combat the hatred and racism being perpetrated against all marginalized populations. Our country will not be a safe haven for anyone until it is a safe haven for everyone.

We stand in solidarity with the recent statement released by the American Counseling Association. For further information on this statement, please see the following link: https://www.counseling.org/news/updates/2021/03/17/aca-responds-to-violence-and-bullying-against-asian-american-community
