Waynesburg University’s Graduate Counseling Programs are seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach one or more courses in our Master of Arts in Counseling and PhD Counselor Education & Supervision programs. Our courses are offered at our University’s Waynesburg and Southpointe locations near Pittsburgh, PA, as well as online. Adjunct faculty are mentored by our core faculty for professional development and course-related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate should possess a Master of Arts in Counseling degree and sufficient professional experience, or a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. Current licensure as a licensed professional counselor and prior teaching experience are preferred. We strongly encourage people from underrepresented groups in counselor education to apply.


  • Expertise in one or more of the core areas of counselor education (professional identity and ethics, counseling and helping relationships, social and cultural diversity, lifespan development, career counseling, group counseling, assessment, research, counselor supervision, counselor education, counselor leadership and advocacy)
  • Has experience in online instruction and course design
  • Clear and reliable communicator with students and other faculty
  • Provides value-added comments and information to students
  • Is knowledgeable in professional counselor development and gatekeeping practices
  • Passionate about counseling profession and service learning

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS: Waynesburg University’s Graduate Counseling Programs are  designed to develop professional counselors who are caring, competent, and committed to helping others. The Masters in Arts of Counseling program has two specialized tracks, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Addictions Counseling, designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of students. Our PhD Counselor Education and Supervision program provides doctoral students with the knowledge and skills required to carry out scholarly research, lead within counselor education, counseling, and supervision, and create new knowledge. Each of these programs are designed according to the standards of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP). Our programs are based on an adult learning model, with evening, hybrid, and online courses to accommodate working adults. Our traditional Master of Arts and PhD programs are CACREP-accredited.
