Position Title: Assistant Professor of Counseling
Employment Type: Full Time, Faculty, Exempt
Reports To: The Assistant Professor of Counseling will report to Dr. Melissa Gregg, Chair of the Psychology, Professional Counseling, and Neuroscience Department.
The Department of Psychology, Professional Counseling, and Neuroscience in the College of Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track assistant professor position in the graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to begin August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the CMHC program. The teaching load is 24 credits annually. Opportunities to teach additional courses in the Summer and Winterim semesters may be available in both the CMHC and undergraduate psychology programs for additional compensation depending upon the needs of the Department. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching (including serving as a teaching assistant), clinical, or supervision experiences in order to teach Clinical Mental Health Counseling courses. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds. Preference will be given to candidates with bilingual Spanish skills in counseling and supervision. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to the ACA multicultural competencies and will utilize an anti-racism and anti-oppression framework of practice. Position will collaborate on program development and the CACREP-accreditation application process, provide clinical supervision of students in the CMHC program, and establish and maintain an active research program in the field of clinical mental health counseling. Will contribute service to UW-Parkside, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, the Department, the profession and the community including advising students in the CMHC program. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions

Service to Program and Department, College of Natural and Health Sciences, UW-Parkside, profession and community including advising students in the graduate program.
PH.D. or equivalent in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program, or related area if employed as core faculty member in a CACREP-accredited counselor education program for at least one academic year before July 1, 2013. ABD will also be considered; however, contract renewal will be contingent on completing degree within one-year of hire.
Demonstrated Excellence in teaching (including serving as a teaching assistant). Demonstrated excellence in research in clinical mental health counseling. Specialization is open. Experience providing clinical supervision.
Licensed or license eligible as Professional Counselor within 2 years of hire
