Tarleton State University seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in its CACREP Accredited Department of Counseling, at the Fort Worth campus for Fall 2021.
Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate
-50% Teaching: Teach graduate counseling classes. Develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools. Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline. Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes. Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning.
-30% Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity: Demonstrate a record of ongoing research, scholarship or creative activity appropriate to the professional counseling discipline.
-20% Service: Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry. Return student phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Advise graduate counseling students. Participate in departmental meetings and activities, to include all CACREP activities to maintain accreditation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to: college committees; club sponsorship; advisory committees; student/faculty recruitment; and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
Education and Experience:
-Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education (ABD status may be considered as long as all degree requirements, including dissertation, defense of dissertation, and comprehensive examinations, have been successfully completed by time of appointment)
-Three years of counseling experience;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Demonstrated counselor supervisory skills.
– Must have an interest and ability in working with doctoral and graduate programs.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor.
Preferred: Earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program; experience working in a CACREP-accredited program, School Counseling certification and experience; Evidence of successful teaching experience; Established or developing record of service; Demonstrated ability in working with doctoral or graduate students.
