ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE TRACK PROFESSOR IN SCHOOL COUNSELING Department of Counseling and School Psychology San Diego State University

The Department of Counseling and School Psychology at San Diego State University seeks to hire an Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty member to join our School Counseling Program beginning Fall 2020. Applicants must hold an earned doctorate (PhD) in counselor education (preference for specialty preparation in school counseling) or in a related field of study by time of appointment. Applicants must hold a school counseling credential with at least two years of experience as a professional school counselor or educational leader in a K-12 school setting. Applicants must have a strong framework and commitment to work towards equity and social justice in schools and communities. Applicants must have experience in student and systems advocacy and preparing of school counselors as culturally sustaining leaders in ethnically and linguistically diverse school-based programs. The successful candidate will possess a strong research agenda and scholarly capability as evidenced by an appropriate history of or potential for publication in top-tier refereed journals. Teaching experience at the graduate level within a counselor education or a related program is strongly preferred. Competitive applicants will have a background in relationship centered approaches, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and/or career development.
