Our New York State approved Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program is conducting a search for a doctoral level (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) counselor educator position who is licensed or license eligible as a mental health counselor in New York State.

We are currently searching for a faculty member at the assistant level for the Master of Science (M.S.) Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) at Molloy College. This New York State approved Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is committed to CACREP accreditation. The M.S. in CMHC program provides our graduates with academically rigorous courses, incorporating clinical skills training with evidence-based counseling principles. Faculty have multiple opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary research and scholarly activities.

The faculty position entails the following responsibilities: (a) teaching graduate courses in the master of science in clinical mental health counseling program (b) supervising and mentoring graduate students in the master of science in clinical mental health counseling program (c) maintaining a record of scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations (d) providing service to the department, school, and college, and (e) involvement in marketing efforts and program development. This position may entail fulfilling the Clinical Coordinator position for the department which comes with one course reduction per semester.

Requirements of Candidates

At a minimum, the position requires a completed doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program. Candidates who have not graduated from a CACREP accredited doctoral program will not be considered. Strong applicants who have completed all degree requirements except for the dissertation will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be completed by December 2019.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following characteristics: (a) experience instructing courses in counselor education and human services, (b) history of scholarship as evidenced by presentations, publications, and/or grant work, (c) post-master’s experience in professional counseling, (d) licensed or license-eligible as a mental health counselor in New York State, (e) experience in clinical supervision (f) demonstrated awareness of issues affecting diverse populations, and (g) membership and leadership in ACA or its affiliated organizations. Candidates who have a specialty in counseling skills, mental health counseling foundations, group counseling, quantitative research, and social justice and advocacy, and who possess a strong counselor identity will be given priority.
