Concordia University Chicago is seeking a full-time, tenured faculty position for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. The program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Review of completed applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The expected start date of this position is July 1, 2019.

The faculty member will teach graduate courses in counselor education, supervise practicum and internship students in clinical mental health counseling, assist in the coordination of the CMHC program and provide service and outreach to the university and to the profession, including supervising the on-campus Counseling Center.

Minimum Experience Required:

Preferably a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a counseling and/or education settings; experience teaching adult learners in a graduate environment in the classroom and/or online is favorable.

Education Requirements:

Ph.D. or Ed.D. Degree in related field with a background in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Professional clinical licensure or eligibility for licensure in IL required; LCPC preferred

Responsibilities/Duties:

*Provides competency, standards-based education which aligns with the Concordia University Chicago’s conceptual framework as well as supports the Concordia University style and system of learner-centered instructional delivery.
*Guides student learning in the facts, skills, dispositions, and appreciations pertaining to the course.
*Designs and delivers class instruction through the development of instructional plans that meet course objectives.
*Assists in the development of continuous program evaluation indicating how the mission, objectives, and student learning outcomes are measured and met.
*Participates in faculty and professional organizations. Potentially relate professional/life/ experience to learning by the introduction of clinical mental health counseling perspectives into courses, and the active awareness of professional trends, research, and opportunities.
*Considers the general and special needs of the students, assist them in meeting those needs, and when necessary, seek additional help from other college services.
*Cooperates with the Division Chair and Program Leaders, department members, and the appropriate administrators in the development of the curriculum, in the preparation and update of course syllabi, course outlines, and selection of textbooks and other curricular materials.
*Consults with Program Leaders and/or Department Chairperson on matters pertaining to departmental issues or concerns; observes proper channels of communications.
*Works to continuously improve the curriculum, instructional delivery, and assessment of all program requirements in accordance with current accreditation requirements (CACREP, ISBE, HLC, and NCATE) and potential accreditation requirements that may be considered in the future.
*Supervises and Coordinates the Counseling Center.
*Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting attendance and grades and other reports on time, and enforcing department/college academic and attendance policies.
*Attends all regularly scheduled department and graduate college meetings. Utilizes individual supervision with the Chair in order to organize and structure weekly tasks and objectives designed to improve division programs and reflect on areas that need to be improved.
*Conducts research and scholarly work to maintain professional status as a full time tenure track faculty member.

Skill Sets:

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with various student populations.
*Preferred familiarity with online teaching tools or platforms used in fully online or hybrid/blended formats.
*Ability to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
*Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse students, peers, and/or counseling-site populations.
*Ability to reflect and learn from students’ participation, demonstrating compassionate and consistent behavior in all educational matters, while maintaining high standards.
*Commitment to serve the department as an integral member of a professional community.
