Join CACREP, ACES, and CSI for “Advocacy for Protecting Counselor Professional Identity in the Counseling Compact” on Thursday, December 9, at 2:00 PM EST

License portability is a necessity for professional practice in our highly mobile society. In the Counseling profession, among four different portability plans, is the proposed Counseling Compact which offers counselors the privilege to practice in member states. The baseline criteria for this privilege to practice is broad. On Thursday, December 9, at 2:00-3:00 PM EST, a collaborative webinar from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), and Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) will focus on the need for counselor advocacy to protect the public and promote a strong Counselor Professional Identity while simultaneously supporting the privilege to practice. Participants are encouraged to review the Counseling Compact Model Legislation prior to the presentation.

The webinar will be presented by Dr. M. Sylvia Fernandez, President and Chief Executive Officer of CACREP, Dr. Kelly Duncan, Executive Director of ACES, and Dr. Holly J. Hartwig Moorhead, Chief Executive Officer of CSI. Presenters’ biographies can be found on the registration webpage.

By attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the Counseling Compact.
2. Identify sections of the Counseling Compact that could be strengthened to align with current professional standards and recognition of professional counselor identity.
3. Outline advocacy steps that can be taken to promote professional counselor identity.

Online registration will remain open until the day of the webinar. Upcoming webinars are listed on CSI’s Scheduled Webinars page. NBCC-approved clock hours are free to CSI members who attend these one-hour webinars. Former members may renew for one year and attend all webinars at no additional charge. Because this webinar is a collaboration between CACREP, ACES, and CSI, the usual fee for non-members has been waived. Both members and non-members can therefore register through the direct link, and as usual, CSI members can also find the link on your Member Dashboard.
