The recent reversal of Roe v. Wade impacts clinical supervisors and counselors in a variety of ways. This workshop will focus on personal values of practitioners, potential imposition of values, ethical and legal responsibilities of counselors and supervisors, and our professional values of empathy, authenticity, and nondiscrimination. The roles of safety and culture in supervision will be especially highlighted.
- Participants will gain awareness of ways in which reproductive rights and body autonomy issues can present in counseling and supervision.
- Participants will explore and identify values that can shape their supervision and counseling lens in these issues of body autonomy.
- Participants will learn strategies to explore values regarding body autonomy in supervision, assist counselors to raise and discuss the issues with clients, and ensure that client distress is not overlooked.
